Aside from Ekaru’s qualified team providing IT solutions and cybersecurity awareness training, we enjoy giving back to our community.
When you purchase a new device such as a laptop, monitor, or a new smartphone, the first step is transferring all your essential data to the new device. Once you’ve transferred all the essentials, you’re left with your former device, inactive and collecting dust on the shelf.
Understanding the materials that create these tools we use in our everyday lives, it’s evident that you cannot just discard these devices in normal everyday trash bins.
Does this resonate that you recently got that new iPhone, MacBook or monitors? That’s where we come in! Our team at Ekaru hosts quarterly electronics recycling events supported by eWaste.
What Does Ekaru Accept For Devices?
During our Electronic recycling event, our team accepts most, if not all types of electronic devices, ranging from personal, business and hard drives. When you are looking to get rid of these, we get you covered for free. The only time there is a fee during our electronics recycling event is to request a hard drive to be destroyed. This fee is only $25, where you do not have to worry about the scenario of leftover data on a discarded device found by another user in the wrong hands.
Our Electronic recycling events occur once every three months since 2020. In the year 2025, we have outreached our community in January, April, and now Thursday September 25th for 10:30am-12pm.
The business that helps make all this possible for our local community is eWaste Solutions. Dangers of Not Disposing Devices Properly
When a device has become obsolete and the individual no longer needs it, throwing it into the trash, then proceeding to a landfill is not the safest solution for you and the environment.

Potential Risks of Throwing Away Unsecured Devices-Business and Personal
The risk of data still present on the device. Transferring data over to a new device from an obsolete device, wherever it ends up runs the risk of your private data falling into the wrong hands.
If the scenario of a device falling into the wrong hands becomes a reality, cybercriminals can utilize that information to find you, create a profile with your information and target you with intricate phishing attempts through social engineering. Some easier to identify than others.
- Identity Theft: Lets say on a cell phone that isn’t discarded properly, your name, address, SSN are still present, cybercriminals may use this to open accounts in your name like bank accounts, participate in fraudulent activities, and traces of identity theft.
- Business or Client Data Exposure: If a business or their clients discard their devices improperly, they run the risk of damaging their reputation to the point of no return, following with potential fines or lawsuits, and violating data protection lays (examples like GDPR, HIPAA, and more).
- Personal Privacy No Longer Private: If the scenario of a device falling into the wrong hands becomes a reality, cybercriminals can utilize that information to find you, create a profile with your information and target you with intricate phishing attempts through social engineering. This also can end up in blackmailing situations, leaving the victim distressed and having to reset passwords/accounts promptly.
- Deleted Does Not Equal Gone: Deleting files or resetting devices data can be recovered if they’re not securely wiped in time. Cybercriminals may have the tools needed to extract this data and use for malicious purposes without your knowledge until its too late.
How We Help Ensure Security

Stress free for you and your business.
