Ransomware is one of the most potentially damaging types of malware, and threats are increasing rapidly. If ransomware lands on a vulnerable system, files are encrypted, users are locked out, and payment is demanded, typically in cryptocurrency, in return for a decryption key.

The cost of ransomware incidents worldwide is expected to exceed $265 Billion in the next 10 years. The Colonial Pipeline attack recently made national news, and showed all of us the potential impact on infrastructure. What many people don't know is that many of the attacks are based on automated threats, and about half of them hit small businesses. The small small business attacks just don't make the headlines, but everyone knows of someone who has been impacted. The good news is that there are many smart and affordable things your business can do to help stay safe. We'll review the importance of layers of security, also known as "defense in depth", as well as the importance of user cybersecurity awareness training.

We've been working with local businesses for over 15 years, and we don't want to see anyone left behind in this time of digital transformation. Technology can level the playing field and small businesses are the backbone of our local communities.  With so many small businesses severely impacted by the pandemic, the last thing anyone needs now is a cyber event.  Sign up!
