What If They’re Already In? The New Reality of Email Security

What if someone were in your email right now - and you didn’t know it? Today’s cyberattacks don’t always get blocked… they get through. In this practical, non-technical workshop with Guest Speaker Lincoln Vierhus of Petra Security, you’ll learn how modern threats bypass traditional security and what to watch for before real damage is done.  Sign up!
Is someone else logged into your email?

What if someone were in your email right now… and you didn’t know it?

The reality: today’s cyberattacks don’t always look like attacks. Hackers aren’t just sending obvious phishing emails - they’re using tactics designed to feel more legitimate and slip past both technology and people.

According to Microsoft’s latest threat research, over 8.3 billion phishing emails were detected in just the first three months of 2026 . Even more concerning:

  • QR code phishing is exploding - giving attackers a new way to bypass traditional email defenses
  • Fake CAPTCHA “security checks” are being used to increase trust while hiding malicious activity
  • “Phishing-as-a-Service” tools mean attackers no longer need technical skills to launch sophisticated attacks
  • Emails are increasingly designed to look legitimate, even including fake disclaimers and business language to build credibility

And here’s the key: most of these attacks are designed to get a user to take one small action - click, scan, or log in.

That’s where the real risk begins.

In this session, we’ll break down the critical difference between email security (which tries to block threats) and identity threat detection (which detects when an attacker successfully gets in). Because today, attackers don’t need to break in - they log in.

If email is your #1 business tool, it’s also your #1 risk.
The question is: would you know if it was compromised?

Join us on May 21at 2pm with Guest Speaker Lincoln Vierhus of Petra Security to learn how these attacks are evolving- and what you can do to stay ahead.
