Join us for a Lunch & Learn on Thursday January 30th at 12:15. We're pleased be bringing you the latest new info so join us to talk about "PCI Compliance & Beyond: What DMARC Means For Your Business". Community technology education is a big part of our Ekaru mission.
You might be wondering...
"What is DMARC and why should I care about it?"
On March 31st 2025 the Payment Card Industry (PCI) will start requiring DMARC compliance for any business that processes credit cards. If you receive payments via credit card, in order to continue to do so, you will need to have DMARC compliant email.
Why?
DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance.
What the heck is that?
DMARC helps verify that emails sent from your domain are legitimate, protecting your business from spoofing, phishing, and email fraud.
Perhaps you don't accept credit card payments, but maybe you send invoices by email? What if a criminal "spoofs" your domain and sends a fake invoice to one of your clients, and your client winds up paying the criminal. That would be a problem for YOU and your reputation.
Also, if your email is not TRUSTED (including proper configuration of DMARC), your outbound emails may not be received by your recipients. That invitation to your big event, the invoice you're trying to get payment on, your BIG announcement, your email to your prospective client? Those emails may never be received on the other end.
Cybersecurity is a bit of a "cat and mouse game" - what worked last year isn't enough for this year.
