February 25:  Security Awareness Training - Is it safe to open my email?

eMail_ComputerBack by popular demand!  As businesses continue to be more diligent about getting proper data security measures in place, the new threats are designed to trick users into installing malware on their own systems, divulging sensitive information, or even completing wire transfers.

Users are being hit with fake ("spoofed") messages from trusted authorities and inadvertently bypassing the security safeguards at their site. Users are also receiving fake financial requests from their bosses. Employee training is critical to keeping your network secure!

We'll review some of the fake messages and teach users what to look out for.  Years ago, these types of messages were obvious fakes and easy to spot.  Now the messages pretending to be from sources such as eFax, UPS, FedEx, Verizon, JetBlue, etc are very sophisticated, and hackers are relying on distracted, busy, or otherwise unsuspecting users to help them spread malware.  Don't let your organization get hit!
